Yesterday we did a stop at the Quinta Bolivar, signed in and went in to discover that there are no displays until April because they are doing renovations everywhere. Gee, the security guard could have told us that right away....
Today, a little road trip was in order so we headed over to Mount Cojitambo. Somehow I missed the turnoff from the town and decided we didn't feel like hiking about a kilometer uphill so we continued on towards Azogues.
Well I missed the turn there too so we just kept on to Biblian to check out their church built into the mountaintop. Everything was closed so the two interior shots were taken through broken windows (no, I didn't break them... sheesh). We did discover a gate open that allowed us up the mountaintop behind the church so we managed to get some lovely panoramic views from above the spire.
It seems that, every time I come to Biblian, it is afternoon and the rains are coming in... Today was no exception, so we hopped back in the car and headed back to Azogues.
The rains followed us and we barely got inside the church when the heavens opened. After diddling about inside we started the trek back to the car and ducked into an open doorway only to find a little chapel to the Virgin mary along with a lot of candles afire, and Holy Water available from 3 faucets....
Water, water everywhere as we came back to Cuenca in a torrential downpour. Judging by the water running down my street, I am sure there is going to be some flooded areas somewhere in town....
