I have this sinus cold that some good drugs seem to be helping me shake.  And the side effect is that they make me drowsy, so I am getting the best sleep in months!
Because of this I did mostly computer work on photos until the drugs knocked me out shortly after noon.
Then I got called out to enjoy the sunny day at San Blas Park to meet Luz, daughter Angie and her son Miguel.  I just love watching the kids interact and play in the fountain so I hope that you enjoy the photos.
That was the day's excitement,   Cheers, Al

Dead batteries frustrate Miguel

But he gets to play in the water so he is happy

The fountain at San Blas Park is a magnet for kids

These kids are so darn cute

How to have fun and not get soaked..

Oh well, clothes dry quickly here

Angie & Luz basking in the sun

This little guy commanded my attention

Miguel gets to walk right in the fountain

Not much happening today except for a good-bye lunch so we just cruised the beach one more time before the 7 hour bus ride back to Cuenca....

Awake early in Montanita, even before most restaurants are open so we managed to have breakfast around the corner at some kiosks.  Then we boarded the bus for the one-hour drive to Puerto Lopez.  Upon arrival we were separated into two groups for two boats to go see the humpback whales cruising (and mating) by the coast.
We got extremely lucky to find a few pods and then a show-off who would do the barrel-rolls and then breach many, many times in succession.  I will let the photos speak for themselves, I will just number them, no captions.   Not too many people get this lucky and a couple of folks were seasick so missed most of the fun, poor them...
Several folks will be wanting copies of these photos so hopefully many of them can just borrow them from here.  I was truly fortunate to get so many quality shots.
When we got back to Montanita, the schedule said we would have a Dinner + Dance with Brian Gary performing on the rooftop patio of our hotel.  Again it was organized disorganization, with extra tables being hauled up 5 stories by rope on the outside of the hostal.  They also barbequed some shrimp kebabs and we enjoyed Brian's music and had a few dances.  One of our group members named Karla, with a K, also gave a fabulous a-capella rendition of a very old song.   All in all, it was a pretty good time..

Our group kept these kioskd very busy

Frigate Birds greet us in Puerto Lopez

Are these egrets or herons?  They look too big to be egrets.

Birds and fishing boats, a natural combination.

Very picturesque

Waiting to board our boats

Pelicans have claimed this boat

Frigate birds are everywhere

Finally we are on our way to see the Humpback whales

A very pretty coastline

Pelican

Relaxing on the ride back

Lots of birds on the cliffs

They include pelicans and blue-footed boobies.

Every coast seems to have these hideaways...

Lots of varieties of birds

Hundreds of them

Can you spot the blue feet?

I still think they are herons, or maybe storks??

Love the outline of the frigate bird

Fresh seafood for the asking

How to get tables up 5 stories....

The view from the top of our hostal

I pitched in to help haul up the tables, with Mike from T.O.

The expensive hotel in town

Night shot of Montanita street

This hotel is might impressive...

Brian is the consummate entertainer

He enjoys his work (play....)
