We have some road-building machines on our street again but it is the usual, one at a time, move stuff from one corner to the other, let the other two machines do the same things they have done for the last 2 weeks, take long breaks in between, then repeat...  Our street has not changed in appearance for a week despite all this supposed work.  Hourly provincial employees are obviously the same everywhere.
Another Hearts of Gold meeting today as we struggle mightily to get everything coordinated for the Christmas Gala just 8 days away.  Folks have no idea of the man hours put in by the volunteers to bring off this event.  The second my slumber is over, the wheels in the brain are automatically engaged on Gala details.  I will be so glad when this is over and I hope that I can say that this is my last event.  I am just too old for all this stress.
I am giving you a sneak peek at some centerpiece art, made by one of the kids' schools that we support.  The base is an actual wood slice and the rest is just delightful.  They will be for sale for a nominal amount at the Gala.   Hope to see you there.
Hope you enjoy the photos.  That was the day's excitement,   Cheers, Al

The keys are in it.  There are a few noisy dogs I'd like to flatten..

Moving dirt from A to B, B to A, A to B, ad nauseum

Beautiful handmade centerpieces

These will be for sale at the Gala

I felt like one of the Soggy Bottom Boys this morning when I looked outside but an overnight rain is a good thing and it keeps the dust down.   There was a grader on our street this morning but no road crew showed up to do the paving.  Typical Ecuadorian way of doing things...
I had some help today to put up Christmas decorations in the front window.  I actually had to go out later and buy some more garland.  Nothing matches but it looks pretty nice tonight when it is all lit up.
Hope you enjoy the photos.  That was the day's excitement,   Cheers, Al

Yup, soggy to the right

Yup, soggy to the left too.

Able-bodied help to put up the decorations

Hard at work with a glue gun

I hope she knows how to remove it all later...

This is the initial look from outside

We'll have to see how it looks all lit up later..

Remember my tiny local nativity scene....
This is a full 1-second exposure tonight

My house is the only one lit up for blocks..

Frosty the Snowman is our new protector and Xmas symbol

They lied to us again..  That road crew said they would be here on Monday to pave our street and of course there was nobody at all doing any work anywhere in the neighbourhood...  Meanwhile I have to park my car outside and sleep with one eye open,,,
All of a sudden I seem to be popular for photography work, taking photos of homes and apartments for rent or sale, along with requests for portraits and event shots...  I don't charge much but it gives me some diversion and some pin money.
Today I had some time on my hands after a photo shoot so I caught a few shots around Immaculate Conception Cathedral before meeting Luz and going shopping.  We will decorate my house for Christmas a little tomorrow and plan a quick jaunt into Peru next week....
Hope you enjoy the photos.  That was the day's excitement,   Cheers, Al

The newly refurbished center main door

The guy on the right asked me to take their photo.

Immaculate Conception is impressive

I'll have to get downtown earlier before the clouds form

The whole square is a great tourist draw

The blue domes are the city's signature

The old convent on the right has been refurbished after a fire

Parque Calderon sits between the old and new cathedrals

Putting on the fancy high heels

Oh oh.. I'm getting the look

I mentioned yesterday that I had stopped in at Ed & Lynne's new apartment on Los Pinos.  Gorgeous views and good company....
Hope you enjoy the photos.  That was the day's excitement,   Cheers, Al

A very spacious apartment for 2 people

The view to the west to the Cajas isn't too shabby

Big dining area and living room

The kitchen even contains the washer and dryer

The master bedroom is one of 2 bedrooms

The view southeast is amazing

And the view southwest includes the Rio Tomebamba

Master bath with tub is 1 of 2 baths

I had a busy afternoon today.  First I had to take photos of a house in San Joaquin for a friend who wants to rent it out short term.
Then I visited my Coopera buddy Marco who also lives in San Joaquin to get an update on what is happening.  It is time to get a proper Constitutional lawsuit underway as I have been telling them all along.
Then it was back to the city to visit Ed & Lynne in their new apartment on Los Pinos.  I will post those photos separately.   Then it was just a quick walk down the street for my Saturday gig at Joe's Secret Garden.  Tonight was my favourite meal there, chicken-fried steak with garlic mashed potatoes and grasshopper pie.  Mmmmmmmmmmm, I was not disappointed
Hope you enjoy the photos.  That was the day's excitement,   Cheers, Al
