Monday May 18, 2026

Last Wednesday I fought to keep humidity in the apartment without adding too much heat.  The trouble mainly is that the distiller, which I usually run twice a day, blows warm air.

Friday I had Connie visit from the IPTV Passport office and we set up Dawn with 5800 channels and 86,000 movies....  Then we updated my setup as well.  I had to re-do all my "favourite" channels again, which was OK, because I needed to re-order things so my sports channels came first...

Saturday, I stayed in bed until 1pm and then had Dawn visit for spaghetti supper.   Then I tackled my laundry,.. a chore I avoid as long as possible with my vast wardrobe...

Then I finally tried on the new comforter that I was gifted last May at my brother Germain's funeral.  It even came with pillow cases and sure does look good on the bed.  It is heavy, and warm.

Sunday morning, I attended a "late" Mother's Day Brunch downstairs.  It was catered by the Sawmill Restaurant, but was a bit disappointing.

Then I drove to Canadian Tire to get a spare key cut for my apartment.

I got my approval in the mailbox for the City's Leisure Access Pass which made me happy.  I may actually make use of it this year!

I then went upstairs to help my friend Don move stuff around his packed apartment.  It is hard to descibe a hoarder's place when they have a tiny path through mounds of stuff up the walls to the ceiling.  Don has a host of problems, not the least of which are diabetes, osteoporosis and cancer which he fights tooth and nail.  He has already had 65 chemo treatments and actually looks forward to more...

His mounds of "stuff", are strategically piled to at least 30" high to start, so he has something to hold onto, to avoid falls, to get to his recliner at the back of his apartment where eats, breathes and sleeps...  His bones are so brittle that any small fall can fracture ribs and bones, and he literally has to plan every footfall....  He figures he may last another couple of months.  He is going rapidly downhill now.

He always kept his cane against the door to avoid the Manager entering unannounced. But, he fell last week and was on the floor for several hours, without his phone handy...  That is hardly a healthy situation...  So we have come to an understanding,,, he will not block his door and he gave me a key, and he will carry his phone with him more often.   He is awful for answering his phone, so he could be dead for days and nobody could check on his welfare before.   Pretty stupid for such a smart guy!

Today, I spent hours trying to help a fellow artist and photographer named Muhammad Ali (yes, not kidding), but goes by the handle Bobby Dar, from Pakistan.  We correspond occasionally on Pixels/Fine Art America and he is very talented.

The poor guy has a wife and child and is dirt poor and could not afford the $30 annual fee for FAA, has yet to make a sale, and cries that he wants to buy his boy a toy.  I agreed to help once I had confirmation of his situation from an intermediary artist in England.  But we finally got it done through Western Union and Interac.

Time to go watch hockey and read a book by Kathy Reichs, a Canadian author, and I love her style of writing.  She could be the next series that I read.

I looked out to the parking lot today and was surprised to see tulips in full bloom!  Winter keeps popping back and forth but we may have indeed turned the corner into spring....

I hope you enjoy the pictures.  That was the day’s excitement.
