Yesterday I took care of some downtown chores....
First, I had completed the Guaranteed Income Supplement (GIS) forms to take to the Service Canada office in Canada Place, sadly rather than trust Canada Post.
On my way, I stopped at the Library and dropped off one James Patterson "Private" series book and picked up 2 of the last 3 available there. The last one should be available in about 3 weeks...
While in Canada Place, my stomach told me to stock up on some beef donairs from Mr Donair in the basement. Each were up 50c but still good value. For some reason, I always leave with four.
I came home and fought with Telus again over their wildly inconsistent Internet and WiFi.
I started to read one of the "Private" books and realized by the first page that I had already read it... I started the next one and finished it before 1am...
Canada is playing well at the IIHF World Mens' Hockey Championships but I keep missing the games because of the inaccurate times posted...
So, today, I returned to the Library because it was a decent day for a ride on the Gio. I dropped off the two from yesterday and this time I grabbed 4 Kathy Reichs books right from the shelf. I had seen that there were many available at my location, but I am kicking myself that I did not research the publication order first... Oh well, I will keep better track from now on as I have printed the order.
While at the Library, on a lark, I contacted friend Tracey who had bought a red Gio because she loved mine, just in case she was free to go for a ride as she had been asking for... Well, surprise, she was free, and because she lives close, met me within 1/2 hour and off we went. Silly me, I had not brought my D5600....
She wanted to head to Whyte Avenue, so I showed her some of my routes and we went right to the Commercial Hotel where she knew some regulars. We opened the double doors and she drove the Gio right inside! We had a pop each and came back out. I quickly checked the Bulk Barn to see if they had any Meat Tenderizer Seasoned which I had forgotten about for years, and was disappointed.
We cruised Whyte Avenue slowly and took the opposite side of the High Level Bridge on the return trip, stopping at the Legislature grounds to watch the Paramedics set up for a small memorial for tomorrow. Tracey bought a t-shirt from one of their booths. Then we toured the front of the Legislature grounds, and I headed back home, making burgers for supper.
The photos below were taken through my dirty windows with the P1100.
I hope you enjoy the pictures. That was the day’s excitement.

My neighbour crow likes that chimney perch
I suspect that he has lost his mate
because they mate for life, and he is solo...
