These photos were actually taken yesterday afternoon during a long walk from Parque De La Madre to Joe's Secret Garden.  There is a celebration in progress regarding the founding of Cuenca, however historians point out that the celebration date in April is actually the date that the town was named Cuenca by the Spanish.  This town has been around over 1,500 years, originally called Tomebamba by the local Canari tribes, then named Guapondeleg by the conquering Incas.  Of course the Incas were thrown out by the Spanish who were in turn thrown out by the locals.
The celebrations include arts and crafts on display all along the Tomebamba.  I took a bus to Parque De La Madre then walked westward, enjoying the artisanship of the many artists on display.
I am the first to admit my complete envy of artists who can paint, sculpt, sketch, etc.  There is so much talent in this area.
Hope you enjoy the photos.  That was the day's excitement,   Cheers, Al
