Friday, I spent a very long day trying to set up the new Asus laptop, installing most of my pet programs but encountering obstacles to overcome with almost every one, many still unresolved...

Then I had a much-needed 11 hour sleep...

Today I continued the hard road to make the new laptop compliant and familiar with my usual routine.  I still have a ways to go, but am making headway.

I got cleaned up and headed to Commonwealth Stadium wearing my Elks gear as the local team hosted my Calgary Stampeders.  I had a large hamburger and fries combo before the game started.

My Stamps did not play well and I was boiling with frustration over issues I should have ignored.  I had forgotten my radio at home and could not follow a lot of the crazy play and penalties that kept shaving points off the board.

My usual 2 seatmates from the Manoir did not show up...  Our section is marked for handicapped seating but other bad stadium signage directs people with OO section tickets into our area all the time and we have to send them to the next NN section to get to their seats.  I was getting whiplash over this continuous nuisance, again.

Then the security guy was allowing people without season tickets to sit in our section and I got angry.  3 legitimate season ticket holders coping with 6 noisy others made me leave before half-time...  I watched the second half debacle at home instead.  I may turn in the season tickets because it is not enjoyable there...

So, back to the watching baseball and tennis as I read my Mark Greaney "Gray Man" series.

I hope you enjoy the pictures.  That was the day’s excitement.

Thursday September 4, 2025

I did not sleep particularly well so I did not do my usual chores prior to leaving Betty and Diamond Valley.  The morning was decidedly cool and it was not supposed to get much better during the day either, although the smoke was to clear by the afternoon....

I made my way to Okotoks and stopped in At McFarlane Agencies where I worked for 9 years.  The 2 boys who run the show are already semi-retired and I am told they rarely come in to the office now.

Then I drove up the hill to visit my old dream home with the fabulous view of the Rockies, to rekindle my fondness for this town...

Then I made my way to an appointment with my financial guru to discuss how I can move money without paying taxes and to rebalance my account, such as it is...  He was a little late, but we had a productive meeting.

I tried walking a couple of doors down to the newspaper, The Western Wheel, to put in an ad "looking to rent" but the doors were locked, contrary to the information on the front door....  Maybe I am crazy, but I love that area, and always have... especially as a photographer.  My kids don't seem to appreciate my presence here so maybe my absence will make the heart grow fonder...

I made my way to Edmonton without incident and the drive seemed quick too, which was nice.

As I approached Edmonton, I made the decision to drop in to my new computer place to talk to my new computer guru, as it is only a block off my route.  I arrived at 2:40pm and at 3 pm I was walking out with a brand new Asus super-laptop to replace that piece of crap I had bought from my friend Dave in Colombia...   The new laptop will mirror my new PC in capacity and power to work on photos, which I will want when I get to Colombia in December!

Hey, it is my hobby, and I may as well be happy and spend my money on things that make me happy.

I was home and unpacked by 4pm....  I will leave the laptop setup for tomorrow after I have had a decent sleep..

The photos today are a few re-worked photos from my trip, using the power of the programs on my PC....  I hope you enjoy the pictures (out of order again, but who cares??).

That was the day’s excitement.
