 2 months to spring!

I was up until 1am watching my Oilers play another poor game and they lost 2-1 to New Jersey Devils who at least seemed to have a system for defence and offence....

But I was still up real early this morning because Cristina was taking Buddy to the vet for further checks, but all seems well on that front...  I wanted to be showered and available, and prepared, because I expected our Servinet fiber optic technician to show up,.... and he did.  It was a fellow we had before who is very bright and explains things well.  We had 3 Servinet wi-fi logins and we had been using the wrong one...  We needed to stick to the 5G connection and the difference was amazing at the computer, the laptop, the cel, and the QNED TV, which we disconnected from the wi-fi extender and it now works on straight wi-fi without buffering....   I was so happy that I hugged the guy and got him a beer!!!!

Then I slipped outside with both cameras and there was nothing in the sky except distant vultures and a police helicopter.

So I locked the dogs in the house for a few minutes and Tom Thumb showed up nicely.  The first set of pics below are with the P1100 which can do magnificent close-ups, but does not seem to react well to motion.  Those are not as clear as I would want....

The other set are from a bit later with the D5600 on rapid-fire and I am quite happy with those shots.

Cristina and I then spent almost 2 hours shopping for more junk on Temu, tools and more cat stuff mostly...  Luckily, it should all arrive before I leave.

The wire fence installers will likely be here tomorrow....  I am already feeling caged in...

I hope you enjoy the pictures.  That was the day’s excitement.

Tuesday January 20, 2026

Because I had a 2-hour nap in the dreariness of yesterday, I was up until 1am watching yet another Godfather rerun.

Today is a different story again, 31C at the moment, with glorious sun and blue sky.  I hope the rain has not abandoned us totally...

The new fencing contractors stopped by to pick up the rolling doors to be re-done properly straight.  They may be here Thursday to install everything...

Sofi is visiting again to play board games with Cristina.

I went outside for 20 minutes on the patio, locked the dogs inside the house, and Tom Thumb came right away to inspect the new nectar we provided yesterday.  I took what I thought were about 17 good shots with the P1100 but they were crap.  I am showing you only 2 just to show how bad...

But a few steps into the sunshine in the mid-yard yielded nice shots for the D5600.  I am sure we will see the paragliders (called "cometas") practicing from Roldanillo into February, slicing overhead, riding the thermals with the vultures.

I spotted an unusual dragonfly which usually desert our yard because of the small mosquito population since we drained our lake...

I am happy with the sharpening and de-noise capabilities of the Topaz Photo AI  program which now works superbly with my new computer and laptop.  Hopefully I am good for a few years now on that front.

My niece, Dawn, will be moving into our building in a week.  She was desperate to get subsidized housing quickly, waiting for one in Leduc was going to take forever, and I was able to luck out with a sudden opening at the Manoir...

For some odd reason, I had a problem with the right-click menu not coming up and I researched online for remedies which I was hesitant to tackle.  Then I did a simple re-start and all came back to normal... Whew!

I hope you enjoy the pictures.  That was the day’s excitement.
