Today was devoted to processing yesterday's pictures and the resulting Blog about Waterton.  That was another 5 hour marathon.

Then I sat up on Betty's deck with the P1100 to test the Bird function although I had no success with a moving target yet.  We had to wait a while before the birds came to feed, and then we were surprised by the butterfly too.  I am not disappointed with the shots at all...

I took Betty out for supper at the Black Diamond Hotel for Wednesday Wings, and they were so good that we shared an apple crisp with ice cream for dessert.

The setting sun was red from the smoky air so I hurried and got the shot, also with the P1100, before it got below the trees.

Tomorrow I will make a few stops in Okotoks before heading home.

I hope you enjoy the pictures.  That was the day’s excitement.

Tuesday September 2, 2025

Since my trip to the USA got scotched, I did the next best thing, getting within 5 miles of the border today.

I picked up my friend Betty and we headed towards Waterton National Park, not sure what we would see with all the smoke in the air....

Since we were passing by Pincher Creek, I decided to call my cousin Joe Gilmore, who I knew lived in the area, and he kindly invited us to stop by.  While we were at his lovely acreage, his plans for working that day fell through, so he was happy to play tour guide and chauffer for us to Waterton!!  What a bonus that was for us!!  Thank you Joe!!

The smoke was intermittently quite bad and obscured a lot of beauty but, as you will see below, we did manage to still see a lot this day....  We visited the huge wooden Prince Of Wales Hotel with its magnificent views and were shocked when people were pointing at a small black bear swimming across the lake!!!  Then it passed by us on land again twice more!!

Near the Cameron Falls, a sick deer, frothing at the mouth, passed us as we were heading for some delicious ice cream.

We cruised many different areas with our handy guide Joe and came across another small black bear when exiting the Red Rock Canyon....

So we had an exciting day and managed to get back to Diamond Valley before dark.  The moon pics were taken with the P1100.

I hope you enjoy the pictures.  That was the day’s excitement.
